It's All Paid Off

Hi guys, long time no see. Just read my previous short story, and it was so sad, wondering why i wrote such a story. It's devastating. Today I finished my study at Lasalle. Doesn't feel too much, you know what i mean. Not even relief. It's just weird. But 2 years went so fast, man! It was like yesterday i came to my college orientation day with dorky glasses and very very very ordinary white shirt and jeans. I was sooo nervous and I prayed the night before my orientation to had friends during my study. I usually feel anxious and awkward before attending schools. College didn't make it any different. And chose fashion school like Lasalle didn't make me less anxious and nervous and shy and awkward. Wasn't so excited attending the orientation day, i came anyway. It wasn't as hard as I thought before, but i was very awkward and friend-less. Lol. As you all know i chose Fashion Business as my major and got 1.1 among 3 classes. Tried to blend in awkwardly i kept telling myself that i was so lucky, because we didn't experience massive college drama I always avoid. So, we spent two years together with birthday tradition which i always look for, since everyone (most of everyone) would be there and there were also many sleepless nights to finish our assignments. Got cranky sometimes because i couldn't control myself, and found myself crying because it was just too much. Experienced my first fashion show by winning the tickets from kak Dian Aisyah (Founder of Nine12). Instead of getting two tickets, I got 4 instead. Thank you, kak! hehe.

Lost our assignments during Store Layout subject made me so sad, because I personally didn't enjoy that subject. I wonder how those interior design students could survive without attempting suicide. And I did thank God for letting me pass that subject. And i just can't forget i said yes to be finance manager in Enterprise project since I passed the subjects (Accounting, Budget Planning, and Finance) with very average scores. I wonder ever since. Enterprise project was our mountain of subjects from the first semester. We apparently needed them all to pass Enterprise project. And i couldn't ask for better partners. We were maybe not perfect and but we nailed it. We nailed enterprise project. Working on Fitlosophy was like taking care of our own flesh, you know. One-cute-yet-demanding baby. And i am telling you, it's paid off. Those sleepless nights, those cranky days, those nightmares, those anxious feelings i had, those doubtful thoughts, it's paid off.

To sum everything up, and for awkward girls out there (hoho) shit happens and life never wait for you, oh, and if you think you want to quit and get a husband, just wait a second because there is always pot full of golds at the end of the rainbow. For some people who try to lie to herself and not following her dreams, that's sad because you always have choices to do so. The last, you can never please the whole society. Choose the ones who matter, your life will be so much easier.

Pardon my not camera-able faces, everyone.

Trend Analyst

My final project for Trend Analysis who taught by Ichwan Thoha, we were divided into three groups that would present Formation. Formation - here - is a first fashion and trend forecast company in Indonesia. And sir Ichwan gave us one concept each group to be presented. My group got Black Swan film that starring by Natalie Portman. We basically had to convince our potential clients that Black Swan will be trend in Spring 2014. We do research and analysis before the presentation. Glad to know Sir Ichwan loved all of groups' presentation. To be honest, the most thrilling part is when we did the photo shoot, even though it is not as good as i expected, the photo shoot was fun. Beside photo shoot, i also collage some photos to be presented last wednesday. hehehe collaging photos is one of my hobbies.
Sir Ichwan also set the dress code at that day. Since we were still in atmosphere of 17th of August (which is Indonesia Independence Day) he chose Military Chic. He dressed very well, if i can say. He always dress well, if i can add. hehe.

The class was very fun, and relieving because he was impressed with our presentation. I wish we pass his class.

Paid Off

YEAY!

Those sleepless nights are now paid off! I am so done with this semester, i hope i can pass the whole subjects. I didnt sleep much these days because of my everlasting assignments. But now, those dark ages is over. Welcome holiday, i gladly welcome you. Last tuesday was the first time for me to stay at LaSalle that late. Well, security don't let us to stay until we are done but i stayed until 8 p.m. and i was exhausted. too exhausted to eat.

today was the last the day of my 3rd semester and i had Private Label Development presentation. It went smooth, Alhamdulillah, even though i dont know my marks yet i really hope i would pass.

This subject was too remarkable to forget, to be honest. I created my own brand, imagine myself having my own brand is one of my favorite daydreams, then design clothes for my brands (that mostly suit my style, hehe) then the rough parts happened. my life crumbled and when i realized i was in the bottom of earth. Busy weeks and assignments are the ones i found during days and my laptop's desktop was full of assignments. But the hardest part was dealing with the tailor. You know, i never get along with tailor, this one does not make any different.

Then do the measurements, i am feeling like one of those tailors or fashion design student hehehe. I had no idea how to measure clothes. But as i said, those hard works, those sleepless nights, those tired days, they are all paid off today. It will be better if i pass, but this is enough. Alhamdulillah.

My brand :D

"Let your dreams outgrow the shoes of your expectation." - Ryunosuke Satoro

I did talk about competition i joined in the previous post. Well, it is not bad at all. My group mates are friendly, creative and open-minded. I mean, we don't insist each other to use my/her/his ideas only. That is fun.

And it is also fun to watch videos in my laptop. I get my very perfect private room. It seals me from anywhere, even from my assignments. Yes, i will talk about my assignments over and over again until i finish them all.

Anyway, this competition somehow excites me because i will have another photo shoot, it is challenging which is good. Or it is just me. I will post some photos if the photographer lets me but i want to share a little bit.

Basically Clarks holds a competition to look for some good advertisements. And the competition needs us to work together with students with other departments (fashion design, photography and make up artist - myself as fashion business student). The winners (first, second, and third place) will get some 'good' cash and the photos will be used as Clarks' new advertisements. That is the fun part. How many chances in a day Clarks use your photos as their advertisements? We have three themes, and we need to take one photo each theme. The theme has to be connected to each other. Honestly, I don't want to spend much for this competition because i have so many things to be done (my photo shoot assignments for example). I am afraid i will have so much fun and forget where i belong. I belong to my assignments, but i cant easily resist this. Nah! I will be fine. This is such a good opportunity, and i am not gonna miss it. I hope it will be great and I wish we will win ;)

This is the first time to work with other departments and it is going smooth until now. And i should go back to my assignments for awhile. They will miss me, you know?

Good night everyone!

Stars and Stripes for Summer 2014

What Is Up When Others Fall

Prediction For Fall 2013//style.com
Some people think that today is too soon to predict future, but i never think so. Today is the correct time to predict what will happen tomorrow.

I will start with the pantone color. Mykonos Blue, Koi, Emerald, Vivacious, Linden Green and others will invade in Fall 2013! You have enough time to brace yourself. For additional information, the color's picture will be not exactly the same because of the resolution of the computer. You should find another references.

Have you heard about New Look? Beautiful silhouette design that created by Christian Dior. Originally, the two lines were named as "Corolle" and "Huit" (which included the new "Bar suit" silhouette). However, the new collection went down in fashion history as the "New Look" after the editor-in-chief of Harper Bazaar, Carmen Snow's exclamation, "It's such a New Look!"
It seems this look come back from grave.

Beanie was another phenomenon for winter 2012. Worn by fashion-street-wearer make it famous. Chanel apparently will use its fame for its Fall 2013 RTW collection.

I know you are familiar with polkadot pattern. This polkadot represents vintage, old, yet modest style. I already warned you, because dots will be over the place.

Who doesn't know Andy Warhol? Beside pop art, he also designed beautiful sketches of shoes that Christian Dior use as the prints of his dress in Fall 2013 RTW collection. What a genius.

Prediction is still a prediction, people.

Yay or Nay

For Fall 2013
You dont need to ask question about how much i love to collage photos. He didn't approve it, anyway, but i do like the result. hehehe. The left one is a prediction for Fall 2013 with emerald, koi and vivacious as the color pantone for Fall 2013. And New Look from C. Dior will come from the grave. What i love about what Fall will give is the electric blue beanie from Chanel. Isn't that cute? Anyway, it won't be complete if i dont explain the right one little bit. So, basically the right side is everything that 'NAY', which means out of date, or lame, or so last century. The shoes at the bottom is not a neon color, the color's name is bright chartreuse. that color came from color pantone in Fall 2012. Peplum, tribal, cracked nail polish, space pattern, so yah, it is not that easy tho, but i am having pretty much fun. :p

Deden Siswanto Stole the Runway

I am enchanted for sure.

Oh, I almost forget to tell you what Indonesia Fashion Week was like. Deden Siswanto is too magical. Yes, he nailed it. yes, yes, he was extremely perfect in many ways. Just purrrrfect. I loved his fashion show. It feels like you watch the greatest movie ever, and when you finish, you dont know what to do, because that movie absorb your whole soul. And, his show is just like the greatest movie. Deden Siswanto was performing his collection for Pinot Noir. A-ready-to-wear men collection that inspired of A Walk In the Cloud. A romantic film in 1995 that is starring by Keanu Reeves.

With dramatic entrance, models walked on the runway and presenting modern yet vintage collection from Deden. It is not only the collection that mesmerizing but also the way models walked. They walked very slowly and dramatic. That made them looked like a living mannequins. Perfect and "cold".  But it didn't stop there, the music that played during the show also witch me. Deden knew how to make men's collection look perfectly beautiful.  Once again, he is a genius.

What an Assignment!

This is a tough week, tasks are everywhere. the dead lines are trying to chase me and kill me. Oh yes, now i know why it is called by "dead". And my communication mix's lecturer love giving us papers. And before we can finish the event proposal for our brands, he - nicely - gives us another task. But, before he said it is a task, he gave us an Indonesian Fashion Week invitation. Each of us. And i screamed internally. Now i dont need to win a game. Hehehe.

Then, while i was still in an euphoria, he wrote on the board and said "you must come to this event, and gives me the fashion report then." "Oh.. Sir, dont you forget, there is still an event proposal we need to finish?" i asked to myself. deep down in my heart, i know i am screwed, but the outer part of my heart, i am just freaking excited.  Anyway, i should stop blogging and continue doing my tasks. So, have a nice friday night you, couple person. Happy valentine! I already got my gift!

Berry & Benka

Today at marketing class, my lecturer welcomed the founder of Berrybenka, Jason J. Lamuda. He let us know the reality of online shops. And believe me people. it is not as easy as it seems. I guarantee that. Because before today i thought it is gonna easier to open online store because you wont spend your money for renting place, and the promotions is easier. Make facebook and twitter account, and voila...

But the truth is you still need to pay if you want your online stores have an online banner. Are you kind of familiar with banner on the right or left side if you open random websites? Nah, to have that kind of banner you have to pay, and it is not that cheap, tho. Jason said, if you just promote your online stores via social media, it wont work as good as having online advertisement. And because you manage online stores, your customer needs to be impressed by good pictures of your collections. It has to be appealing to attract customer's attention. And it is neccesary to have good logistic management. Oh, he also said that brand name is important. From his own experience,  he ever made a deal with investor who thought a bad name for fashion online stores like tokocantik.com is a big turn off, and it might affect the process of decision making.

Anyway, Jason gives this to the whole class. It was good to have you in the class!

And the most important thing is to define the target market carefully. It is like the crucial thing to start the business. You have to know your market, he said. And it is so true because you have to know who will buy your stuff, dont you?

Lemniscate

means "endless" and represents ∞ in mathematic's symbol. A simple symbol to reminds me that how life works. That is how people know that what goes around, comes back around. And why do I admire ∞ ? That symbol makes me control myself, makes me being good to everybody, being nice to people i hardly like, being honest to my parents, and makes me pray harder. And when sometimes I experienced bad moments, those remind me about how not good I was. You know, life is as simple as that. As long as you survive through your bad moments, you are gonna be good. Dont blame others, please, because this symbol and its meaning has made long time ago before we born. Everybody loves you if you want to pay attention, spare your time to choose the ones who really care about you and the ones who don't.

Lemniscate

Because it is my favorite symbol, Lemniscate becomes my personal brand for few assignments at school. For business purpose, i hope Lemniscate bring luck. It is a prayer that my business will be everlasting. Ehehehe.

Anyway, today is Fashion Society, and i forgot bring my blue book. The text book content history of fashion (kind of). It is a must to bring that book every meeting and i dont bring it today. Aha-ha-ha-ha. I am toasted, man. Really. No joke.
